Open Book again

I have passed the halfway point in my contract. I've only got three weeks left at this job and in general here in Minneapolis. I went back to Open Book last night on the way home from work, not for a book reading or anything but just because it's a nice place to sit and be calm in the world. I really wish there was some place like it in the Durham area (or Chapel Hill, or even Raleigh though it's a PITA to get down there for me). It's kind of like a library or a cool bookstore and we've got both of those, but not in the same place and not with an art gallery and cafe and so forth all under the same roof.

Haven't seen one of these in a long time.

A tabletop in one of the reading nooks.

A staircase to nowhere. They've left some of the architectural artifacts of the building's former purpose (maybe an office building or factory? not sure) as decorative elements.

Detail of a textile wall hanging in that same reading nook, of flowers and thorns.

The sign on this door made me laugh.
