Flowers, cont'd and other pix

One more post for the day, because i can't get over the beauty of the gardens here!

 This poppy is as big as a saucer! In a garden up the street.

 Not sure what these are but i like them. They covered a bank in front of a home halfway to my workplace.

 So many huge iris in bloom around here right now.

 This one looks solid black in person. Neighbors on the corner have it.

 There is also a little neighborhood florist a couple blocks away, which had these odd black orchids.

 Beautiful air plant at the florist. If i had any way to get this home safely, i'd buy it.

This little diner is on the way to the closest subway stop. Might have to check it out one day after work!

 My furry roommate, Hank, apparently likes this method of keeping cool.

I wish i knew what these were. They are like a cross between an iris and something else, because the middles are the big puffballs, but then they have hangsy-downsy tongue-like petals the way irises do. In the same garden as those people with the black iris. Might just have to knock on their door.
