Flowers of Longfellow
The neighborhood in which i am renting a room is called Longfellow, hence the title, and wow, but this place is just bursting with flowers! And since Minneapolis is further north than Durham/Chapel Hill, things which are done blooming at home are only just starting here including my favorite, irises.
A selection of purple flowers from my neighborhood. RIP, Prince.
I don't know what these are, but they're in the back yard.
Peonies like this one run along both sides of the house.
The people up the street have made a cool planter from a chair whose caning in the seat is gone.
I'm told this is called "magnifica honeysuckle." This house had a ton of cool flowers in their yard.
Beautiful iris!
Stand of purple iris and a rock path in a tiny park on the walk to work.
More beautiful iris.
These (whatever they are) are the size of saucers! There were dozens of blooms stretching over this wall.
This is a pollinator garden alongside some disused railway tracks. Beyond these yellow flowers were a bank of purple ones as well. And, lots of bees! More bees than i've seen since i was a kid.
I'm going to end it there, because this post is getting long, but i have so many more lovely flower photos due to my enthusiasm for the #FlowerReport that author Alyssa Harad hosts on Twitter every Sunday (where people all over the world share photos of what's in bloom wherever they are). It's changed how i look at flowers both in the immediate vicinity and the globe.
