2013 at the Porches et al.: a summer not spent abroad
This summer, instead of going abroad, i'm going to be doing several research and writing related trips within the US.
The first of these will be a week spent at the Porches, a writing retreat in the Virginia mountains. I'll be working on expanding my masters thesis into a full-length manuscript. It's apparently got an overall silence policy, but also it's located in an area where you can go out hiking or camping or driving around in the mountains, which is great for jostling loose some writerly creativity.
I might do some of the Southern leg of the Monticello Wine Trail.

And of course there's always the option to drive the first 60 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway. That's always a great meditative act.
Later in the summer i've got some research trips in the works, so here are a couple of placeholders for things i'm hoping to catch in and around and during those:
Samurai exhibit at the MFA Boston
Gertrude Kasebier exhibit and Common Threads exhibit at Univ of Delaware
